The LJHS Eagles baseball team never got comfortable Friday as a hard hitting Jacksonville Our Savior team came to town. The Shamrocks jumped out to a 3-run lead in the top of the first and the Eagles never recovered, eventually surrendering 14-0 in a shortened, 5-inning game. Offense obviously did not come easy to Liberty, but the Eagles' biggest trouble was on the defensive side where seven errors led to 11 unearned runs.
Devon Funk (0-1) started on the mound giving up two earned runs in two-innings pitched, saddling him with the loss. Offensively, Funk and Noah Klauser collected the team's only two hits of the game. The loss evened Liberty's season record at 1-1.
The Eagles look to bounce back Monday, August 19, at Payson with a 4:30pm start time.
